I dont want to go back to work...

Checking with comunity, how you will know, you are done? My net worth is around 2M now, including home in NYC and Scottland UK. Me and my wife are on fully remote jobs, earning around ~23k monthly (post tax). i am on my parental leaves and realized, i dont want to go back to work now. Also realizing, I want to spend more time in my village (in Rajasthan India). Our needs are minimal, So its just digitaly increasing account balance now. Am i being to naive here? is it just a feeling which everyone have on long breaks?

You can easily retire in Rajasthan with 2m NW. Take a break and start something for the community there. Maybe a computer center, school or BPO?

Go for it

Inflation may make that 2M not seem all that much down the road. Rajasthan is hot and does not have enough water (would be a massive adjustment after NYC). How did you end up with a Scottish house is what I want to know.

My village in Rajasthan is on border of Haryana. Just 4 hrs from Delhi and Jaipur. Have never seen water issues but Yes, heat will be very high in Summers. We were in Scottland till 2020, so we boight a home there. Its managed by rental agrncy, giving us ~600 USD per month after all decudtions.

Are you from Pilani?

You do have the money to retire if you want in a relatively low cost of living like India. But just be careful to have something to do when you retire. Retirement can be pretty boring and some folks get into depression. Maybe take some part time work? Maybe take an extended leave and see if you actually enjoy all this new found free time before fully commiting to it.

Yes. Thinking on same lines. I know, it could be a very temp feeling whivh can flew away in sometime. Not sure, if i will miss the tech work tbh, but yes, day to day , need to plan something. Month on Month expences, can be covered by 2 homes rent from NYC and Scottland. Allready getting ~600 USD per month from Scottish Home. Even that would sufice in my village tbh.

2M fixed deposit in india will be about 1 cr a year on 6% interest, that’s pretty good amount to live in India

Ness pays that much or your contribution to that 23k post tax is less percentage?

Ness Technologies abcd404 OP Jul 26, 2023

I am not in Ness now. Joined fintec start up. My contribution to 23k is around 13k post tax.
