H1B to B2 visa

I was laid off recently and currently on H1B visa 60 days grace period. I am looking to do change of status from H1B to B2. My questions on this are, 1. Has anyone done this recently? 2. Should I go through attorney or do it myself? 3. If attorney, any please share the details of the attorney. 4. How complicated the process overall is? #workvisa #h1b #layoff #b2 #h1b-to-b2

On Blind, you will find some posts of people who’ve done it recently or they know whose done it recently. The process is fairly straight (of a B2 switch) but it is good to have an attorney do it. A good attorney.

I found a couple of posts and reached out to some of the folks on those posts as well, but haven’t received the response from them yet.

Hire an attorney. Some $1000 odd should be the fee but you will get the right help

It is better to hire an attorney because changing from H1B to B2 and then back to H1B requires a lot of explanations. It can be hard to explain why you suddenly wanna visit some places after working here for years, and why you start to work again after visits. This article may be helpful if you need more information about the process: https://changeofstatus.org/h1b-to-f1-or-b2
