JP Morgan Chase vs Lowe’s
Posting on behalf of a friend. My friend has the below 2 job offers and finished Masters degree recently. Which option is better in terms of career growth, flexibility and upcoming recession? JP Morgan Chase— AWS, Python, Hadoop Pay: 100k, Bonus: 7k Location: Wilmington, Delaware Relocation: Not paid Position: Software Engineer 601 role Lowe’s— Java, Springboot, Microservices, GCP Pay: 102k, Bonus: 10% Location: Charlotte, NC Relocation: Paid Position: Software Engineer Current TC: 0$. Recent grad
Both are viewed as legacy tech orgs when you start to look at your next role. I’d take Lowe’s given the higher comp, relocation and better nightlife in Charlotte.
I agree with this. Unless her next move clearly aligns more with Chase (Python over Java), I don’t see a reason to go to Chase.
Wilmington is a dead place. Probably can save more there as no sales tax there.
Charlotte, NC nightlife better, but depends on what she wants. JPMC is a quality name to have (however legacy laden it may be), combine this with no sales tax and some of the lowest property taxes in the country in DE & L-MCOL, not a bad option if she wants to save for a few years then jump to a bigger fish.
Neither company carries significant weight on a resume, but I would go with JP: - more modern stack - that money goes longer in Wilmington.
The fact you are asking about JPMorgan vs Lowes.......LOL. Who in gods name would work for Lowes over JPM? Career suicidist?
I’m in the same boat debating APM spots with Lowe’s vs JPM. Difference is Lowe’s would be fully remote eliminating my cost of living and saving an extra 40K per year. Is JPM’s clout for exit opportunities worth 40K saved per year?
Take JPM and relocate to Columbus OH, they will EASILY allow this.
