How do the levels map to tech companies? This is my take Analyst - SE 1 601 Associate - SE 2 602 Associate - Senior SE VP - Staff SE/Senior SE at FAANG
No way, an analyst is like half of SWE 1 VP is maybe SWE 2 - 3
At US bank a Branch manager making 60k a year has a VP title on their business cards lol. It’s nonsense.
At JP pertty much everyone is a VP. Not even managers or someone who leads anyone. Just a team member who's been with them for a couple of years (started with the starting point of Associate) then next move from Associate is VP. This is just an internal hierarchy that doesn't mean anything.
Lmao not even close, pay will be much lower at all levels, I'd say VP probably maps to lvl4 (se2) in terms of compensation
Fair point. Besides compensation, in terms of responsibilities and skill level, do you think those are also not accurate?
If JPM pays way less than FAANG across the board then a comp comparison is irrelevant. You should be comparing roles and responsibilities. L3 = analyst L4 = associate L5 = vp L6 = md
