Does anybody know how using a personal laptop works at this company? I will not be issued a company laptop but was mentioned I could use my own. Anybody have experience with this and know if I can use a personal MacBook?#tech #jpmc
You would just Remote Desktop in to your jpmc workstation (assuming it hasn’t changed since I worked there)
Thanks! Is there lag or is it slow when using the Remote Desktop?
No it's usually pretty speedy
I’ve done it before. It’s just using VDI on your personal laptop/computer. Everything’s separate
Does that mean I can use a MacBook? (Not sure if the VDI is compatible for both windows/Mac?)
You connect to your VDI via Citrix. You can use either personal MacBook or PC - either work fine. (Left a few months back)
Hi , OP you should be able to access it via citrix workspace. Also you would be getting reimbursements around 1200$ to buy laptop ,etc
Thanks! Oh wow, if I get reimbursed, is the laptop still mine?
Yes that is your property, even if you leave the org.
You can access the VDI that operates on Windows OS through citrix workspace. The citrix workspace app can be installed on windows or macOS and would work. I access the workspace through my mac.
Do you mind if I DM u some further questions?
No problem. DM me with the queries.
There is NO computing done on your local machine. Your local machine will use Citrix to connect to your VM located in one of their data centers. You could literally use an iPad to connect to this remote machine
@JPMorgan Chase - Are there any other reimbursements or covid support allowance given? Also will i be eligible for year end bonus if i join in september? TC: 23L YOE: 4
Welcome to VDI Hell
This is bad !
Could you elaborate?
Why use your own resources for a company
