#finance #greenfield #rto #wlb #tc Hi Blind, Any insight into how it's like working in the Chase division in London for VP/ED level positions ? Considering an opportunity there. Looking to understand: scope of work, expectations, RTO, WLB, expected compensation (I've seen a large variation on levels/other Blind posts) Blind tax: 130k GBP
If you are going to be in ICB or DFC then be careful.
Thanks for the heads up. Those seem to be within the main JPMorgan businesses. This position would be specifically with Chase. Can those teams overlap?
Why so? Looking into it as well.
The entire company is likely to be much more bureaucratic and political than any other you have experienced. In my experience, the Chase specific side is much more political than the legacy JPM side
Thanks for the info. Got the impression that there's quite a bit of top-down requirements coming in, but engineers seemed to be relatively content in terms of having freedom to design and maintain a healthy tech stack (as it's new). Is your experience as VP or ED? I am wondering what the jump in scope is, not to mention I've read things about there being a "hidden" svp level, which aren't corroborated with levels/similar websites.
I was VP while there, which maps to a sr SWE within the firm (which maps to mid at FAANG, imo). Flexibility and freedom on design will largely depend on the specific team and LOB you wind up in. For some context, my team lead and direct manager was also a VP, and the last 2 months or so that I was there he blocked the entire teams progress because he was arguing with the VP-lead of our sister team about whether an endpoint should exist or not. The project before that however, was only my team and we had a moderate degree of freedom as to our design and implementation. From what I could tell, the largest (and virtually only) contributing factor to climbing the ladder at JPMC was your ability to kiss ass and play politics.
Gotcha, thanks again, this is really helpful information and probably means that I'd only join if it would be a svp (if that even exists) or ED since then I wouldn't need to worry about kissing ass as much for however long I'd be staying, but still get more responsibility. Did your team interact with EDs at all or are they mainly communicating initiatives via VP-leads ? (SDMs?)
Which lob?
With Chase, no details specifically given for what type of product specifically is being built
