Need help evaluating an offer. ED / 604 role leading cloud function (50+ engineers) based in London. Base: £180000 Bonus: 20% No sign on Can I increase something and cand I expect to get that bonus or it will vary? YoE: 17 TC: 🥜 #jpmorgan #jpmorganchase
Looks very good
On site? Remote? London is very expensive? I guess you cannot do this job remotely. London is very very expensive. I don’t know what could be the right income for london but TBH seems below average. For sure you can make out a good living, not sure how much you can save.. do you have health insurance included? Is food provided at lunch or not?
All valid qustions which I will verify, i.e. benefits etc though agree this feels low just wondering how much can I stretch it. There is one issue with London, it's expensive and salaries are low compared to US for example. Even Meta employees get 40% cut when they move from Bay Area to London.
This salary is way above average for London. Congrats OP
Looks low for ED at JP. I thought ED TC would be in the 300/350 at least in research or quant analyst. I work at Bloomberg in London and my TC is 230k, heading 5 people. 12YoE
Is this chase uk or the investment bank? I agree with others - you should be in the 300-400 range and you should just ask them for 350 TC. They should be able to pay a sign on or higher guaranteed bonus AND give you stock - they normally buy our unvested stock for people in the industry but you can just ask.
Since the role is for cloud solutions, this most likely the chase uk. So I am not sure 300-400k is possible in not investment banking related business.
OK so seems like I'm being low balled, thanks! On your question Chase UK. Now seeing the other comment from Barcleys don't know what to think.
Be careful with chase bank UK. I have a friend who joined there as a senior eng and is pretty unhappy with the amount of dev challenges. He went from Meta to chase but didn’t have much of a choice, got laid off last year and h1b so had to take the first thing.
Any specifics on dev challenges? Happy to DM if. you want.
As per him - 1. Dev pipeline takes forever 2. DevOps maturity is a mixed bag with folks who claim to know a lot but deliver very little 3. Product team is more of a project management team 4. Devs claim to be experts at Java constructs (streams, concurrency package, etc.) but struggle on the application of it. Those are the things he mentioned to me.
Bonus 20% is low for first year but it is not guaranteed on subsequent years. You may get base of £180k but bonus could go from 0-100%. Seems like ED base is low end of the ED range. ED base range is £180k-325k based on experience and location. For London the base should be higher IMHO.
This is not accurate. 180k is more than average base pay in London. Highest base pay is in NYC which is 325k but in USD. In London, Max base is about 240k GBP rest in bonus. So it is true u can get to total comp of 300k USD for senior EDs. Please don't compare London to NYC salary. In my view negotiate on bonus to 40% and see if they are ok to increase base to 200k
Congratulations, i am not sure about money, but ED role is really great 👍
Are you at Meta right now? What position? You can definitely get more than that here as a E5 / M1, though stock crash might have lowered it with the refreshers don’t think it’s worth the switch at all.
OP for comparison I’m VP 603 in Chase UK and my base is 120K £, with 15% bonus. VP has 3 sub levels, I’m in the bottom one. Definitely seems that you should negotiate higher
