Looking for advice on Jane Street / HRT coding interviews prep. Any insights / suggestions would be appreciated! #JaneStreet #HRT
JS is basically just "standard" coding questions. HRT depends on the role.
HRT - core dev role
expect C++ questions (weren't super involved when I did it), OS questions (more involved), some comp arch, the harder end of leetcode, and some low level coding questions. There may be some basic networking questions too. They can honestly ask you whatever they feel like and usually they will ask questions that build off your answer until they feel they got enough signal.
What is your background (ML, C++/infra, full stack)?
my background is a mixture of ML and low level infra (C++)
Did internal recruiter reach out to you? I only get head hunters from UK spamming for JS
yes
We want to make sure you know how to develop software through the entire lifecycle. Many candidates just jump straight into coding, but you should make sure to understand the problem statement, write up a brief design doc, get it reviewed by stakeholders, break the problem down into separate steps, write up a brief JIRA item for each step, coordinate with the PM to estimate the number of story points and deliverable schedules (the interviewer will be acting as a PM for this part), have an acceptance plan in place, talk a bit about the testing/integration/rollout story, and only then start coding. Writing code should be the easy part of this.
Assume JIRA is just a trap for candidates. You must suggest something more convoluted and terrible to pass the test.
Are your PMs programmers?
What do you think made your profile stand out?
They liked his experience with a language almost nobody else uses.
not sure my profile really stood out but need to clarify - your question is about how I got the interviews ? I have no idea, I applied on their websites and heard back within a week. I guess they still value FB/Meta experience somehow.
