Are these interviews they post actually accurate? That latest unit conversion graph problem was pretty easy, and the interviewer kept giving hints without being asked anything. Edit tc 140 yoe 2
Don’t go there. Sweatshop.
Did you work there?
Know friends who do.
Citadel is a sweatshop, JS not so much
High throughput, high pay Not for everyone
Doubts there my friend. I’ve got a buddy at citsec and he makes garbage compared to my offer at JS
They can always make it harder or add extensions. For example, they may ask if you can do a more optimized version of your solution or add more requirements to the problem later down the road.
They all look so nerdy
Eh?
As they say at the end, solving the question is overweighted by candidates. Being able to communicate and think are skills you can test with easier or harder problems. But yeah this problem is probably on the easier side. Optimizing is not the usual approach? Adding more requirements however is a classic thing we (and most people) do. Ways in which this question is accurate: The pace, the patience, the real-world source of the problem (unit conversion is a thing you have to do when trading in different currencies), not worrying about typos or syntax. Also, questions that you’re watching after the fact will be inherently easier. You’re not the person being stressed out over five hours of interviews, right?
Curious, do you think JSC’s hiring is sustainable? Seems like a lot of people are getting hired in the last two years.
This makes sense although I think there was a lot of hints
I think I watched the same video a while ago and I had a feeling that the girl did pretty bad, no way she would pass if it was the real interview. I’m not saying she’s dumb or anything, but it just wasn’t a good interview performance at all. Also the guy was giving her a lot of hints which wouldn’t happen irl. The trader mock interview was much much better imo.
I’m not politically correct douche, I wouldn’t call anyone dumb just because of poor interview performance regardless of gender. I know couple of girls from js and all of them are smart.
What's the video?
Their most recent dev video.
Did you interview at jane street?
Sure
$140 at IBM with 2 YOE. Doubt
IBM salaries are on levels, 140 for b7/8 as a developer isn't that high for 2yoe at IBM, especially in a hcol city
