This purchase will support over 1 million American jobs across 44 states. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/02/14/air-india-places-orders-for-470-boeing-and-airbus-aircraft.html
Any private company can turn failing enterprise into successful one(check cafe coffee day story, air india etc), but if it is run by any gov it will be shit.
This is really good. I hope they have the new fleet of airplanes on the long route. I travelled from Bom-sfo couple of weeks ago on their 787-200LR which they have rented from Delta. They looked fresh and comfortable. Direct flights to Mumbai Delhi bengaluru and other metros of India could really be game changer for Air India.
For the time being, because air India has access to Russian airspace and American carriers don't, so no competition. Air India should use this time carefully and launch many routes that it becomes difficult for anyone else to enter
Currently they are flying the 787-200LR leased from delta on the sfo - Blr, BOM and jfk- BOM routes. So it should be good in the interim. A350 as the long term solution should be good (as long as AI maintains them well)
If it's Boeing I ain't going
Why so many of 737 Max? I ain't getting in bruh....rather swim 😂
Domestic aviation is expanding. Most second tier cities have operational airports now and also flights to neighboring Asian countries such as SL, SG and Middle East as well
Last time Jet Airways placed a 100 plane order with Boeing they went bankrupt after 2 months. I am not suggesting the same happens here but I would take this news with a pinch of salt. Long term orders are always subjected to change. One reason for huge orders being it takes time for plane manufacturers to fulfill orders and airlines do not want to wait for their orders to be fulfilled. They definitely do not expect to keep 500 planes operational all the time. Even Emirates does not have this big of a fleet.
Time for Air India to go bankrupt again after private ownership
Apple -Tata would run the business for long run though have losses in short term. They always go organically , look at Tata steel (still making losses but gradually reducing).
I want to believe this too, TATAs are for the Long run (example of how they turned around Titan). But none of the airlines ever made a profit in india (and failure rate for airlines is quiet high across the world and even American Airlines have got bailouts in the past). We will get to see I guess.

I wish they put an A350 on the BLR-SFO direct route
💯 considering SFO is the new Indra nagar and just posh suburb of blore.
It’s more like Jaya Nagar 4th block. Sucks!
