Legendary Jim Keller is known for saving AMD twice and helping build Apple's and Tesla's world class silicon products, however his contributions to Intel is understated, which needs to be acknowledged. Having experienced Jim Keller's 3 years of work at Intel, the insiders know very well that Intel's resurgence and recent improvements are the fruits of Jim's work. Intel was on a trajectory to complete collapse due to convoluted and complex architecture and engineering processes and unprecedented politics and brotherhood culture. Every next gen of product took longer, more resources and had more bugs. Couple this with deadbeat and lying leadership and it's a perfect recipe to complete collapse.. He understood the root cause of the problems immediately and had the wisdom and more importantly guts to talk about them and fix them at such a toxic place. No one else (perhaps other than Elon Musk) would have pulled this off. He fired many clueless VPS, CVPs. He was brutal and honest about the sad state of affairs and called out the lies and coverups that management had been doing for years. Then he started an unprecedented house cleaning. He reorged the entire engineering to align all processes with the product architecture and execution. He started refactoring of the entire architecture, design, architecture, verification, post silicon, everything. He introduced and forced concepts of standard boundaries, IP, and design reuse which sounds a bit crazy but true. In the end with his efforts, both data center and pc processor products became much simpler and manageable. And the results are now visible. Recent faster bring up, boot,, power on, and far fewer bugs and solid performance are literally fruits of his wisdom and changes. He is a true legend. Jury is still out on the future of Intel but Jim's work at Intel literally saved them from complete disaster and gave them a new lifeline. When Jim gave this gift to Lisa Su at AMD, she ran with it and took AMD to new heights. Let's see if Pat can do the same. If he does and if he is worth his salt, he should thank Jim publicly for what he did at Intel. Do you agree? #tech #intel #amd #jimkeller
I thought Jim Kelly was a football player
Are you Jim Keller? Can I know what your position YoE and TC is please, Jim?
Who
TC or GTFO
You are talking if on ground intel has shown any improvement. If you look little closely - there is no evidence that anything has improved. As for stock price - its all on speculation, habana labs(acquisition not real intel work),cost saving(from CPM and not any “groundbreaking work”) As for Jim Keller- i have respect for the guy and his new initiative is worth a look but they onboarded Raja Kuduri on board few months back which really puts into question how far they will go.
For a mammoth like Intel, 2 years is a short time. He was good but the people around him weren't. I personally think his stint at Intel was a lackluster one. Not because of him but mainly the people above and around him. Most of all i think in all regards, Murthy was a complete failure who just brought in an English dictionary to Intel. I think BK navigated the company backwards. Everything fell apart under his regime.
Pat seems to be good. But his insistence in bringing up foundries is likely to drag Intel behind competition…
Yeah jim keller is the reason why universe came into existence.. bull shit.. jim keller is the one who bought brijesh and ppl here dont like brijesh but idolize jim.. he is just another VP at intel asking may be few technical questions and firing non technical VPs.. thats all he did.. pat on the other hand put a cost to all the inefficiencies.. now if u do extra stepping pay to the factory.. this is the core model change needed not fire a few vps..
He did bring some wrong people. The worst one he brought was sundari mitra, the dumbest and clueless fool of all. she did lot of damage to intel and Jim's credibility
Yes sundari was the worst. He had no chance. Brijesh close second. NetSpeed people were also all clowns and acting deer in headlights and there was rampant favoritism.
Jim Keller is a bozo that hops from one place to another place. Talks like a bozo and looks like a bozo. He didn't do shit at Intel
Threads: were you at Intel before?
Maybe. But apparently he’s smarter than everyone in Meta. Which Meta’s product has the same positive impact as his?
