Really appreciate any kind of ideas and suggestions for job compare! Got an offer from DoorDash, Bay Area as SDE 1, total TC 200k, 40k equity. Currently I work for Bloomberg , NYC for a little over 1 year, TC 198k, all cash. I feel DoorDash did not offer much compensation advantage. The team does dasher payment related work, which seems to be important in DD but also busy. The reason I am looking for new opportunities is that my current work is a bit boring. Tech in Bloomberg is a bit outdated and promotion is fairly slow. Also dating market is probably better for women in Bay. But I do have a good work life balance here in Bloomberg as of now, and since I am a little over a year of experience, I wonder if it would be better to wait for another year and target level 4 opportunities. Hopefully the job market would het better then. Curious to know what people think and if anyone can share more information about how they feel working in DoorDash. #tech #doordash #compare
Will they give relocation assistance? If so, and if you really want to move there, it might not be a bad idea*. * I’ve never worked at DD and have no idea how good/bad it is, but you can always move to another gig if you hate it. Just don’t forget the market is terrible right now, so it may take a while to land the next offers. It’s not a huge jump by any means, but it’s no reduction in TC, and you go from $0->$40k in equity. Equity is good (RSUs, right?), whether you believe in the company and hold on to it or just immediately sell, and it’s something we don’t have here, as I’m sure you’re well aware. Basically what I’m saying is: if you want to move there anyway, this seems like it might be a good way to achieve it with little of your own investment, assuming they do the relocation assistance of course. Since you’re early on in your career, you’ll also get the best raises (and have the potential to get the most diverse experience) by moving around during your first few years. Note also, you can PATH to another position within a BB SF team if you like, and relocation assistance is available there for sure. Best of luck to you, however you decide to go.
They gave 5k relocation fee which I have counted towards TC. Not sure if this is what you means by relocation assistance. Yes I am also a bit leaning towards DoorDash since I also would like the challenges, although from the poll most people suggest Bloomberg.
Not enough to jump and move to the bay. Wait for sometime and target better companies.
