At my current role, I’m making 100k. i have the opportunity took completely switch industries and work at a hedge fund as a trading assistant for 80k base, with a 20k bonus. Should i be negotiating the salary?
No brainer, negotiate! Doesn’t matter how much you are earning now. Evaluate how much you are worth and start negotiating.
If you’re only taking it to make trader, ask if that’s an expected path. It’s not everywhere.
You want to take a position that increases your position financially and within a company. If you aren’t going to make more, why move? YES, negotiate until it makes more sense, financially.
