1st job: 4 year 2nd job: 4-7 months (layoff frenzy) 3rd job: 11 months (reorg and not learning anything so left) 4th job: 1 year (current)
I have changed 10 jobs in 13 years (Full time). I focus on the projects, finish them, have my learnings, and move on. Till you have expertise (domain and technical), you will get interviews and offers. I was told the same things in the beginning of my career, but I believe I can defend my decisions well. TC: $500K
Similar to me though I don’t really mind. I heard something recently about a c-suite executive at major FANGs that they leave a company after a year because at that point you’re either not being fully appreciated or not doing more valuable work. After a year one gets a good sense of things and your trajectory. It made me reconsider how not important it is to be with a company for so long. I don’t think I would do more than 2 years somewhere unless I was resting and vesting and chilling and making real money
Not yet. But if you leave the current job in less than 2 years then it would cause some concern in some hiring managers. That won’t be problem when market is on fire but in a tight market, like how it is now, that would hurt you.

Feels like it.
A hiring manager would think to themself: what's the value of this hire? Will they contribute to my team? (I.e. do I have to go through this dog and pony show again in a year) It's not fun to go through a hiring phase constantly, it takes bandwidth.
