The man I love hates me because I’m Vietnamese
I have a few offers I’m juggling. One from amazon. It’s for an SDE2. The HM requires approval from their manager to release the Rec for the recruiter to publish the official offer. It’s been a few days (3) and they still haven’t released the job. Is there a chance this team could reject me? Or am I not understanding how this works. Amazon is my preference out of all the companies I just wanna make sure I don’t lose another offer by stalling and then get screwed TC: 225 #amazon
What’s the offer?
Get ready to be pipped
Accept another offer, you can rescind it later before start date if amazon comes back with the offer. Better to have 1 job then no job
Sigh. More meat for the grinder.
I am in the same situation. Job requisition may take 1 or 2 week.
Not a good time to get hired by Amazon. If you are safe at Spotify, stay there until the economy improves.
If only I was given this advice, “Do not consider joining amazon”. The max you should do is leverage this offer to negotiate elsewhere. Even if it pays a bit less, Take it and stay away from Amazon.
Why if I’m not going to AWS or something what’s wrong
Amazon is a shitshow right now. Please do not join unless you are ready to be pipped in 6 months
Amazon recruiter here it can take a little bit to find you a req, your onsite inclined is good for 6 months, if they don’t find you something I have plenty of MI AL SDE2 spots open I’m hiring 40 SDE 2 in the next month, as far as all the hate at Amazon it’s team specific been here over 8 years, been on bad teams that felt like but for the most part most of my teams and WLB here have been fine, if you get on a bad team just transfer to a new team, most Amazon employees do a bad job of networking with others at the company, we are a huge company get to know others outside your team and org, this is how I learned what was a good team at Amazon and a bad one, when I first joined I was on a bad team just didn’t know it, but was so excited to be making 225K right out the military I was motivated, then started going out with other co workers and learned different parts of the business, learned they had it good, better than my team and had some beers with the L6 and his wife and moved to his team, after he left it got bad again but I made connections with others and just hopped to a different team, just like we Job hop for better comp inside Amazon just job hop to different teams for better WLB
Run as far as you can from Amazon.
lol spot laid off so many people I’m not waiting for my 15 min hr meeting
If you aren’t fired yet then you are most likely safe for a year. At Amazon you will most likely get PIPed by Q3 or Q4.
