How long have you lived in the US?
I just received a job offer for Accenture in Dublin and wanted to hear if the salary is fair. I’m currently living in Silicon Valley and thought the pay is low compared to the Bay. However cost of living is of course lower. Offer is base pay on €52k. Level 9 Consultant/Specialist. YoE: 3yr. Thoughts?#offer #consulting #career
Level 9 Seattle $120K USD
Wow. There’s a huge difference!
I always find it confusing on the pay variance. Wish we could make the same regardless of location!
Don't take it. Taxes are high and you are going to end up paying more than half your salary in housing. Dublin is expensive and it is not even a nice city. If you want to move to Europe, at least go to Berlin, London or Paris. I make €80k base in Dublin and it is not worth it. You can make €52k in Brussels and have a higher quality of life. There is a housing crisis in Dublin.
FB? €80k bass? I am looking at business roles in big tech so I will either target London or Dublin. London is extremely competitive, expensive and high tax. No visibility regarding Dublin though
I have done the reverse journey so can provide more insights. CoL is ridiculously lower and things like healthcare, dental or student loans are a non issue. Salaries are much lower and any stock or additional income can mostly be ignored given the super high tax brackets for those so don’t factor those in. I also would assume equally expensive childcare if that’s a concern. Also, if you’re working for a company headquartered our of Ireland you can do quite well but will never reach the decision echelons. However you’ll probably have a lot more fun!
Good insights! I must say that I’m living the US now. I’m trying to transition into consulting from industry and really want to take a good opportunity to work in consulting (in there innovation lab “The Dock”). So I could be willing to pay the pay loss for experience and entry point
Is Accenture headquartered in Dublin for any other reason that tax breaks? It’s pretty common for such companies to set up shells with little valuable work done
Well I would be working in the headquarter for global innovation centers, which is pretty great
The Dock is a nice place. There are many reasons we are in Ireland, not just taxes.
Nowhere can match the US pay
Don’t even use it as a benchmark
FWIW - In the US ACN consultant would be around $95k in a tier 2 city (chi, detroit, Denver, houston). So around €87.5k
Tier 1 city (NY, LA, SF) probably 10% higher for CL9
