I’m set on leaving and been interviewing like crazy the last 2 months. Studying for technical interviews, time off for on-sites, but still waiting for something to land. Most of my focus is on this which is causing me to get behind at work. I’m underpaid and I simply don’t care anymore but I still feel guilty about slacking hard. How do I balance this/is it okay to slack now as long as it’s not more than a few months? Edit: mechanical engineer, 2yoe, SoCal, 80k TC
You can do your job and interview concurrently. Just don’t work as hard
Do the bare minimum
Been there, done that. Just work during your 9-5 time schedule. Don’t volunteer to do stuff not assigned to you. Complete your work for the day and log off. You don’t want to jeopardize your current role. Taking time off for the full loops is alright. And take it slow. What I found out the hard way was, the more desperate I was to change my job, the more I screwed up my interviews and even work as I’d be regretting things about my interview. Good luck!
How can you afford to live in socal with that little tc ? 😯
Still saving 40% of total income
