Interviewed with Lyft and got an offer. Is this a safe move? New TC: 220K, current TC: 160K. YOE: 2
It's clearly not safe. Your decision would depend on how much risk you can take. If you have a family or not enough saving to sustain for 4-6 months then don't.
Looks like a risky move at this moment. If you don’t have a backup safety amount, I wouldn’t recommend.
Got offers from FAANG the week before I was supposed to have an onsite there (a few weeks ago) and my recruiter straight up told me they were expecting layoffs imminently and couldn’t in good conscience recommend putting the offers on the table in jeopardy by waiting. Was psyched about the team but took their advice as pretty strong signal that it’s not a safe place to land right now.
@jag117 which FAANG recruiter mentioned about the layoffs ? Can you be specific ?
Makes complete sense. Looks like it's better to wait 3 to 6 months. Thanks all
Are they ready to wait?
No

Hypocrisy of Indians
Given the state of things and the gig economy. It's not a safe bet. I understand joining Lyft would be great. But I don't think it'll be long until they start laying off folks. Amazon is much safer place until this thing blows over.
