Pretty much what the title says. I'm expecting a M1 offer from Meta (yet to receive offer numbers, will update) and would probably look to join in Nov. At that point I'll have ~2 years and 9months left on my H1B. I'm currently in the PERM process with my current company and is about 1 month out from filing for PERM. So ~7months from i140 + another ~6months to make sure it doesn't get revoked. I'm open to global relocation (Europe or Canada) in the future if there are delays and maybe even prefer it to explore the EB1 (multinational manager) option and help my partner's prospects as she is on currently on F1 STEM OPT (1.5 years left for her). I don't want to lose out on the opp to move to Meta. Both prestige and comp would add significantly to my profile and I have worked incredibly hard for ~8months to land this opp. I know Meta sometimes allows you to delay your start date up to an year but I don't know if that is still an option. Also, please post your valuable advice - I promise to send 3 Starbucks $10 gift cards to ones that are most helpful. #facebook #meta #immigration #faang #perm #offer
What? Mphasis pays 310k????
Not at Mphasis lol. Using a friend's old Blind account.
2 years 9 months seem plenty for completing the I140 process at Meta. I’m 2 months away from PERM filing with 1 year 2 months remaining on my H1B. You’d need to complete the PERM filing within 1 year at Meta to be eligible for the 1-year H1B extension in case your PERM case is not adjudicated within 1 year. The only risk I see is the potential layoff at Meta. This risk applies to any company and the risk could be minimized if your SO gets H1B and starts the I140 process in the meanwhile so that you could fallback on their status. If someone familiar with Meta can tell you that PERM filing in 1 year is feasible, I would take the risk without much thought.
Very helpful, thank you! I don't see any reason to be not able to get to PERM filing in 1 year.
One only needs to initiate the PWD process for PERM more than 365 days before H1B expiration. I am in the same boat as you OP with similar timelines. Speak to your HM to ensure that they will start PWD asap. I personally know people who have started PWD about 7 months ago and 2 months ago at Meta. Yes, Meta currently has the PERM issue going on, but we should be fine as long as you are not laid off.
It’s very risky given meta has issues with PERM approval and they are on brink of layoffs. PERM cannot be filed within 180 days of layoffs. I would suggest avoid it.
Really? Can elaborate on your situation and thought process?
If only I had a Google offer I wouldn't have thought twice.
