Joined Microsoft recently. It’s been like two weeks and I’ve been doing the onboarding and training. I joined a few meetings where they’re going over azure stuff and some architecture with current systems and nothing makes sense to me. This is my second job and I was a high performer at my previous job but I’m just worried at how long it’ll take me to get in the groove of things here. How long did you have to learn the tech stack? There’s lot of azure stuff here. I did a lot of full stack before but nothing cloud related Just worried about my performance. Lv 60 Tc 175k Yoe: 2 #Microsoft
Expect at least 6 months before things start to make sense and up to a year before you can propose meaningful stuff
Second this. I have joined msft 1 year back and I can relate what trips@wrk said.
Don’t worry! It’s been 2 months for me at Amazon and now is finally when things are making a little sense to me. Just keep learning and talking to people and you’ll get there. And to put it in context, I was a high performer at my previous job too. Got promoted in 8 months and was offered another promotion when I put my resignation. It will get better!
Hey I'm joining Amazon too soon. Can I dm?
It’s only been 2 weeks. Why worry. Only thing I recommend to new hires is that, find the services and packages you know. Learn where the entry points of the code are and see if you can traverse that. Treat external services like a black box.
Talk to your manager about expectations and assistance with onboarding. Blind is just gonna tell you to find a new job and that azure is dead
All good Just hang in there It happens to all of us
Takes a bit. And wait till you get a look at the baseline. It's a mess, it is a mix of people's personal style and programing style from the 80s. Complete with gotos and such for languages like c++. Don't mean to be a downer, just saying you are right to be confused. Just ask when possible and learn as much as you can. Eventually you learn to move through the 💩
It's been 3 months at Adobe for me.This too shall pass
Just joined two days ago. Everything is very confusing, and almost miss my old job at Amazon. Reassuring to see people start to get it with time.
Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it! When I first joined, I was lost in all of the terminology and didn't know what anything was. You'll naturally start becoming more familiar with everything.

Hang in there, it takes a while to get up to speed on things. Document things you understand to read later on.
