I assume that SDEs can choose to use a Macbook Pro since thats what I saw at my onsite. But out of pure excitement/curiosity what kind of standard setup do engineers have at their desks? how many monitors? mechanical keyboards or just the cheap stuff? for java/kotlin development, does Amazon have any special tooling specific to Amazon that i would need to learn? tc 0 (have yet to start, will soon though) yoe 3
TC or GTFO. Also you should be allowed to expense out a keyboard - talk to your manager. I have 3 monitors because I stole 2 from people who left my team.
Yes, you’ll get a 2019 13” or 15” MacBook Pro, choice of two 27” monitors or one 34” ultra wide. Amazon has an internal build system and service architecture which is home grown, you’ll learn it as you go. Source :I worked at amazon 2012-2019

Do people use mechanical keyboards usually at Amazon? I was going to get one at my last place but I would have been the only one with a clicky keyboard and didn’t want to be “that guy”
Yeah all of my team uses mech keyboards. We have cherry browns though to minimize the sound
Yeah Browns + o rings. Nice office compromise
For Java development does amazon use any specific IDE, or are people encouraged to use whatever they’re most comfortable with?
IntelliJ idea is typical and it has a plugin which provides tight coupling with the build system. You can use whatever you want as long as your code builds
Do they give ultimate edition of intellij?
PIP
TC ? Your hardware is dependent on your TC
TC in your offer letter or GTFO
Shut up
Why shut up
