Hello Blinders, I got a recent offer from MSFT Azure Policy Team for a Remote position Position: L61 Base: 147K RSU: 135K (over 4 years) Sign-on: 40K I am very interested in taking it, but I am currently on STEM OPT with just one year remaining which leaves me with one more attempt to be enrolled in H-1B lottery. I have seen many blind posts about MSFT rescinding the offer after you take it and the immigration team learns this fact about your Visa status. I have indicated this concern to the recruiter and am yet to hear back from them. Should I also indicate that I am willing to relocate to their Canada (Vancouver) office if needed, as the position is remote and they have folks working from different sites across US and some in Europe? Will it affect their decision? Appreciate your help! have a great weekend! Current TC: 155K YOE: 2.5 #workvisa #msft #microsoft
If anything, they will prefer you because of the golden handcuffs.
Nah if they made you an offer I’m assuming they asked you to upload all your visa docs ?
haven't reached there yet, the immigration team will be looped in once I sign the offer, I'm afraid that is when they might renege
Msft asked me like 3 times to upload docs. Before interview, then after. Our team can be a mess but I recall someone getting an offer within 6 months of stem opt expiry recently They started Canada move when onboarding to Redmond. Wirh hybrid remote it's more common to see teams distributed. You can chill and enjoy. Welcome to msft 😎
I had around 8-ish months on STEM OPT before joining MSFT. They did my H1-B registration for FY23 (wasn't picked in 1st lottery) and currently they're processing my Canada move. So, from personal experience, I am pretty sure they'll not rescind the offer, but for convincing yourself, ask the HR rep directly about this. They will be able to give you an appropriate answer. Also, Azure Policy team seems pretty interesting. I am sure you will like their work, I've worked with 1-2 of the team members.
Hey I think you also posted another post regarding onboarding to MSFT on STEM. I am in the exact same boat as you, completed my BGC and waiting on immigration's approval for STEM OPT. Would you mind sharing your timeline a bit? Like from signing offer to first day?
I signed offer sometime in early Sept and joined in Nov. Processes were pretty slow before RTO, I am not sure of the present timeline. Also, for a remote position, numbers look good as per MSFT standards. I got somewhat similar numbers but it was not a remote role.
I have heard Microsoft rescinds offer in such scenarios.
They have previously like 2019 or so. Unlikely to do now though. Also there are people working from home and remote so op should be good
I see, yeah it is surprising that they go back and rescind the offers rather than checking with immigration team first before providing you one! hopefully that has changed now
