I got a call from the recruiter from Jpmc Chase saying they're gonna give me an offer for level 601. My current base is 100k with 40k(refreshers) in stocks in Oklahoma. Here are my questions: 1) What is the NYC equivalent of that? 2) And how much would I realistically get for that level? 3) My reasons for switching is not just $$ but also getting a good tech stack. So what is the tech stack over there? Something that can help with career growth? TC: 100 + 40 YoE: 3 #engineering #software #jpmc
How was the interview process?
I was speaking with multiple recruiters and both had different interview process. One is standard: Phone screening, 1 hr leetcode/hackerrank, virtual on-site. Second: Hiring event. One round. 1 hr hackerrank (leetcode medium to hard), 1 hr behavioral. I didn't know it was just one round. Found out after the interview when I asked when would the next round be lol.
Congrats, let us know how negotiation goes!
Wow, didn't realize paycom can actually pay pretty decent for 3 YoE in OKC. 140k is fairly good.
We had a pay raise recently. Got 15-25% bump based on performance
Also the 40k stock has stacked due to refreshers. It's about 10-12k/year and I've been here for a while
Most, if not all of your incentive comp as a 601 will be a cash bonus. Equity grants are small and infrequent. JPMC is enormous so the tech stack varies wildly depending on your line of business and team.
What's the highest cash I could get got 601? Levels. Fyi says between 115k to 120k with little to no equity/bonus. That's lower than my current TC even with a direct comparison. Guess I gotta continue interviewing.
yes keep interviewing not worth moving. 601 in dallas is only 105+
Quality of life in NYC really requires a min TC of 150k+ unless you like long commutes or having tons of roommates.
For tech stack, ask the hiring manager. As others have noted, it varies wildly across the firm from teams doing greenfield apps in Java/React deploying to AWS to teams supporting ancient legacy code on the mainframe and everything in between. It's not unreasonable to ask for a quick chat with HM after you get the offer.
Currently I see a lot of attrition around my team and teams I work with. I myself am putting in my two weeks as soon as an offer I currently have finalizes. Non competitive salaries for the skillset and RTO are the biggest grievances among employees. That being said, you can use that to your advantage especially if you are getting on a team working with greenfield applications (Kubernetes, microservices, AWS, microservices, kafka, graphql etc). Lots of modern tech you can quickly gain ownership of if you are a quick learner due to all the volatility. As it stands, this place is a good stepping stone you can use to launch yourself into a better company with a large pay increase in 1-2 years
It’s pretty much what I want. I’m not switching for more $$. A NYC equivalent of my current pay would work. I just want a tech stack that is modern and can launch my career. React, PHP and MySQL isn’t gonna take me very far. My aim is to be able to make more $$ maybe 2-4 years from now.

I left JPMC recently in nyc, as 601 with 3 YOE I was making 130k base plus 40k target bonus with no stock. I negotiated the bonus bc I had an external offer. Bonuses were typically less than 15% of base unless you’re a “top performer”.
How was the tech stack and how much did it help you for career progression? I'm still settling into my career and need to get a good base for future opportunities
It really depends on the team. I was on a greenfield project that had high visibility for 2 years and I was able to have great progression. Right before I left I switched teams and it was horrible, legacy stack with no innovation. With that said though, the firm highly encourages mobility if you have a bad time on one team.
