Was offered a process automation engineer position at their St Louis location. Currently make about 96k in a low cost of living area in GA and they offered 110k with a 5k sign on bonus. Emerson doesn’t offer yearly bonuses while my current company does so I’d be giving that up. Their health insurance is also considerably more expensive than what I pay. Wanted to counter their offer because I have a feeling that once everything is totaled up, I’d essentially be making the same or less than I am at my current role but unsure what number to throw out as my upper limit. My current role is as a chemical process engineer with 9 years experience. #Emerson #ChemicalEngineer #ProcessAutomationEngineer
Seems low…What is your YOE? Do you know what eng level they offered? EMR does do a yearly “bonus” based on company performance but it goes directly to your 401k. It can vary though, like 6-12%
9 years in chemE with 3 years having basic DeltaV experience. Don’t recall an eng level being specified. Job was just listed as Process Automation Engineer.
What did you end up doing?
Position got filled before we could come to an agreement.
