I’m an AppleCare advisor who’s working on getting certified in Project Management. I’m done with a Six Sigma yellow belt certification and I’m about to finish an Agile professional cetification and sit in for a PMI certification. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get noticed and interviewed for Project Managment jobs at Apple?
Tbh, if you’re an AHA you’re screwed. The only way I got attention was being chosen for two additional projects, outside of my role. This brought me to attention of some other department managers and my area manager, mainly because nobody ever seemed to get me any answers so I just emailed the managers directly after waiting a week. Even so, I have to be honest, it felt like p!ssing in the wind because they only really noticed metrics, not enthusiasm or creativity.
So you are saying that if I want to break into PM I would more than likely have better luck applying outside of Apple?
I mean, my experience is limited but majority of my colleagues haven’t received any attention for any other roles. You should submit for the roles all the same, and give it your best shot. But keep your options open and look at other companies so you can your foot on the ladder and get back to Apple when you’ve already proven your worth, because my experience is that they are very slow to promote any AHA/remote workers over those they see daily. And this was reiterated by multiple friends who are/were much higher in the company and way more qualified than me. Like Director level.
