I got recently layed off in January, new offer first few days in February. Able to bump my TC from 75 to 121k, 10 months after graduating with my bachelor’s. Currently enrolled in a MS Analytics program, also recently obtained a Tableau Desktop Specialist plus Marketo certifications this past summer. Curious what other certifications are worth pursuing for someone with an analytics/ statistics, SQL and BI background? New role is a Marketing Analytics Lead, upleveled. Heavy into A/B and Multivariate testing, Salesforce, Marketo, Tableau and Snowflake just to give background of tech stack in regards to certs. TC: 121K YOE: .8, 2.5 with internships

This is not an industry fueled by certifications. Once your TC is above $200K, I can’t think of any certificates that a hiring team will look for. If you’re in coding, staying current with coding & design is essential. Whether in coding or anything else, make yourself useful to an expanding network of people in the business. Join LinkedIn and build your network - not just a raw count, but a growing number of people who would recognize you on the street or at the mic at a tech conference. Listen for their needs and learn things that will make you the best person to fulfill them. If you’re living far away from others who share your career passion, move. Don’t be afraid of “HCOL” expensive cities: you will go farther faster in a place surrounded by people who are in position to help you. Pick a place you enjoy being during your non-work hours and stay at least a decade while you’re building your career.
I will echo what beniEx has said. Certifications will not get you any position above ~150k. Instead focus on the industry or vertical you can apply your knowledge to. You should look for roles in finance, retail, manufacturing, etc. which also need marketing expertise. Almost anyone can get a marketing cloud cert with some study and test prep. But managers will want to know how to successfully apply marketing analytics principals to the industry/vertical. P.S. Marketing is probably the lowest salaried positions for analytics.Marketing has historically been a cost center, and therefore leadership will always be trying to reduce marketing spend. If you are not stuck on marketing, I would suggest you pivot to sales/service(especially field)/Revenue Ops/ or similar areas that are part of the revenue creation in the company. It will pay better than pure marketing roles in the long run.
Agree with you, but someone who is in IB as a tech guy, and moves to another IB…. There certificates can help! I have seen banks asking (or preferring to be exact) for FRMs and CFAs etc from swe
ServiceNow seems to be the thing during slowdowns
