Relatively new to the finance industry. As a technologist, would most people prefer to work for Jump Trading or SIG? Why?
What's SIG
Susquehanna International Group. It is a market maker in a similar field to Jump Trading.
i heard sig is more trader quant centric, not as hft or automated as jump or other hfts?
It is definitely trader-centric at SIG, but I've never worked anywhere else in the finance industry, so I don't know how normal that is...
Most trading strategies at Jump are all about the tech and/or research and run completely automated, so it's a very technical environment. It looks and feels like a tech company for the most part. Much more so than I've heard from friends at SIG, Jane St, and other trader-centric firms
Was with sig so many years, traders & quants come first. Tech is secondary and I’ve seen talented engineers getting stuck at roles with little to no progression. Tc suck too. Most ppl jumped during Covid boom. It’s old school
