I am a software engineer in bay area. spent all my career between faang. Good at work, ok at politics, always found out a way to deliver. Would it be a good move to jump to Fintech? Blind Tax:620k, 7yoe
OP none of the tagged companies are fintech. Perhaps go to albertsons and learn some things

Just because you "want" to move doesn't mean you can. They ask lots of LC hards and that's IF you get the interview.
Fintech = PayPal, affirm, stripe, etc
Doesn’t hurt to try. Just apply and see where it takes you. I don’t know much difference between HFT and proprietary and so on before joining, but doing some research on finance (macro + field) might be a good thing to do. Many firms still care a lot about culture fit/behavioral rounds. Each of these firms should have an increasingly different way in which they hire their candidates. Lc will only take you so far. Jane Street for example wants you to code very fast (from my experience interviewing with them), despite their website will say otherwise. Lastly as you’re 7 yoe with 620k tc going somewhere with a low ceiling won’t probably give you much. Different firms will have different ceiling for swe, so do some research on that as well. Good luck, and flex on dem haters 😉
Depends on what you value most. Stay in tech if you value engineering-driven development.
If you don’t know the difference between fintech and HFT, then probably not a good idea for you.
