Congrats but it’s just a company and it’s gone pretty downhill in the past two years. I’d probably pick Amazon over Google nowadays, especially if Google strung me along for two years.
Don’t be so happy in joining Google. You will be welcomed by Ex-Amazon leadership with a forced SCI/PIP quota. It is not the same Google anymore.
It definitely has gone downhill for sure and is still going downhill. But still better than most companies objectively. Personally I think it's still the best company to look for overall.
It depends on what stage you are in your career. Google is not great for early career because growth and learning is slow compared to other companies you could be at. Once you’re at a comfortable point in your life people like to take it easy at Google.
Congrats OP. I had a very similar experience as you 6 years ago. (Also from Amazon) It was one of the happiest days of my life. Don't listen to the haters. As long as you're happy that's all that matters.
Congrats! Don’t listen to all the negative folks out there, be proud of your accomplishment and enjoy the ride. Google is a company so there will be pros and cons just like any other place, but I personally enjoy it :)
From one Amazon to another Amazon
Welcome!
Tc at Amazon and at google !?
Congrats to you! Very inspiring and impressive! I wish I could join FAANG one day!
Why so excited to join FAANG? I was with E/// before going to Amazon. WLB don’t change significantly than adding s*$& ton of responsibility and additional over tome for your manager. “Enjoy your work not your company”
Dude fang is dead, find the next hyper growth companies.
Google is mediocre now, enjoy SCI while dealing with entrenched teammates who have established relationships with management, bespoke tooling, and ridiculous bureaucracy. SCI quotas aren't entirely about 'performance'.
Congrats on leaving Amazon!
I'm happy about joining Google, not about leaving Amazon. Amazon is hands down the best company I worked at so far. My team builds and ships really cool things on a regular basis, we learn a ton, and we get paid well
The last sentence does not make sense at all. At All 🥱🥱
