Way too much cash on hand. I’d invest, you’re losing so much money to inflation
Any suggestions?
Yeah max out a Roth IRA. You can put it in VTI or VOO. Maybe throw in some international funds (VXUS)
Yes you’re doing great 100k no debt
But you only need 6 months expenses max in cash , rest should be invested
What if you’re saving up for down payment for a house?
Your doing good. Only thing I would say car is not an asset as it keeps depreciating.
My first thought was way to much cash on hand percentage-wise (this is a good problem though). You should put some money that you have no intention of spending in the next, say, 3 years into VOO and learn about stock investing. Alternatively, you should buy a property if price of living isn’t too much of a killer. The big barrier for many people is down payment and credit, which you have. A house/condo that you can comfortably afford and is appealing to you in your current life will be great for renting out in the future. At your age, I had $70K in student loans that I was intent on paying off and I don’t regret it as the process changed my mentality with money but….I sure wish I bought property years ago.
Am looking at housing options but interest rate is way too much, Cash earning around 150 usd per month from high yield savings account
You can refinance once the Interest Rates cool off. Buying a house is a good investment regardless of IR.
Your car is a liability, not an asset. That's the mistake most of us do when calculating our NetW. Also, your cash is too high. Try to keep the minimum as emergency funds in high yield saving account and invest the rest in a broad market index fund or ETF (like VOO).
You can sell your car for cash. Still an asset… just a depreciating one
