I was contacted by a recruiter for an Azure Vmware Support Engineer role. One and done interview, got the offer the next day. Interview consisted of scenarios based on an OS I don't really use so it was more about how I would go about troubleshooting. Virtual interview with video. Really liked the 2 people interviewing me. Felt relaxed and conversational. Only problem is that the job is a contract to hire, which I usually don't accept but I don't have a big name like Microsoft on my resume yet. 14 years of experience. Would be an orange badge but could go to FTE in 6 months. TC is 95K to start. Comes with 1 month training and then a mentor. Possibly waiting to hear back from another company that would be 110K but doesn't have the name recognition that MSFT has. But it's an up and coming company. Seems diverse. Both positions are fully remote. I am also a woman in tech so having a place that has a diverse culture is appreciated. Questions: 1. Should I accept with Microsoft? (I already negotiated once so I can't do it again.) 2. How is this compensation? 3. Do people usually get to FTE within a year? 4. Can I negotiate again if I am offered a FTE position? #microsoft #womenintech #microsoftvendor
Sounds like a good plan. You will want to get competing offers when you interview for FTE. I wouldn't take the 6 month thing as any guarantee to convert to FTE.
No, no, I know it's not a guarantee. I just hate the limbo of a contract to hire. I'm not usually a gambler lol.
Do you think it's worth the risk to take it, since it is Microsoft:?
