I spent a couple of months prepping for LI's onsite. I've never had this much discipline in forever. This was after two years of on and off LC. I thought I'd be able to get through but it wasn't meant to be. This is my first time interviewing for a top tier tech firm with LC and system design and the whole process. It was a good experience and but it seems my LC game just isn't strong enough for the market. I salute my fellow competitors. I found the last 2 months tiring and knowing that people are putting multiple months like this in for their dream job blows me away. Their commitment is commendable. Im slightly crestfallen and I'm not sure if I'm cut out for this. I'm considering bowing out to continue gluing together random APIs at Walmart for peanuts. I'm trying to get my mind back in the game but this defeat appears difficult to get over. Can someone kick me up the ass and set me straight? TC - 180k
Think of how far you’ve got towards landing your dream role. Don’t bow out now. It’s tough to get the rejection, but keep up the hard work/persistence and you’ll 🚀
Thats true. I know a lot more than I did two months ago. Thanks for your words.
One of the most helpful replies I've ever seen in response to rejection
let me kick you in the ass. Linkedin does not ask difficult LC questions
They do. Mostly Li tag
idk man. When I got offer there, I had 2 LC Hards.
Their LC count is very less and I don't think their LC questions are that tough
True. I need to LC more I guess.
Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up - Batman’s dad
Tough lesson to learn for sure. Thanks for the quote
Quite relateable, OP. Keep your chin up. If you want to do a burnout debriefing DM me
Thanks for your offer. I might just take you up on that.
I hope you do. Just went thru similar scenario and trying to reflect and stay motivated without a big on site to prep for.
I thought LI did team match before interview. That’s what my recruiter told me anyway.
Have you tried other tech companies? if you’re close you might get offers from top tiers. It would be a waste to not to try more companies after preparing for months
Fair point. It seems as though most other top tier firms are slowing or freezing their hiring. Google, Meta, Microsoft, they're all entering hibernation. Feel like I've missed my shot this season.
Yeah the timing is unfortunate, but I am sure they will resume hiring eventually. It is a good time to keep practicing and prepare for next time since it sounds like you have a pretty stable job.
What question stumped you? Trying to gage my LC ability recently
I can relate. I somewhat freeze up in the interview. As soon as the interview ends, the solution comes to me in few minutes. I just accept I'll never be top tier just somewhere in the middle which is still not bad.
Yeah I can understand the freezing up piece. Thanks for your words.
I didn't want to imply you are not meant for the top tier. Most likely you are and it is just a temporary setback for you. I always think when one door closes another one opens for you.
Trust me, a better company might be waiting for you. Don’t lose the steam and continue interviewing at other places.
Thank you for the kind words.
You should be happy that you got rejected and have closure. I have passed the interview and put in team match and by the tone of recruiter it seems it’s never going to happen. It sucks to be me
