DM for engineering and sales
Which company you work for . Can you help with referral please
Sorry to hear that. That sucks.
How Yelp got impacted by the current situation? Less eating out > less yelp reviews entered or read > impacts restaurants paying for their use?
Close. Less eating out and less food delivery > Less users checking app for options > Less number of impressions and clicks for ads > less number of advertisers paying Yelp > Less revenue and profit margin > layoffs to save the existing cash.
Yeah with no one eating out, restaurants don’t have money for marketing. What’s crazy to me is this has been going on for 4 weeks and already yelp is cratering. The business model just seems so flimsy relying on cash poor restaurants for money
Man, I was using the app yesterday and was wondering if they're holding up fine
2000 plus employees to take care of Yelp? Seriously? This happens when we enjoy on public money and go on unnecessary hiring spree.
We only have 600 engineers.
I cant tell if the 600 engineers is a joke or not
What’s the severance if any look like?
Are engineers affected
Any newly hired employees laid off?
Yelp will never make it back. Product is shit and can’t be trusted.
I used yelp before, recent years I don’t anymore not because trust issues. But because google maps has reviews and it’s much more convenient to be able to see review and get navigation with in one app.
Yeah it’s more convenient to have it right there, also I’m not sure if it’s across the board but I noticed businesses in my area with more positive reviews on Google were trashed on Yelp. It feels like people are more likely to go through the trouble of going to Yelp when they’re pissed off.
From where? Engineering?
All company.
Sorry to hear.. the sun will rise again
