Volvo S60, 2013 model, 32k Miles vs 2015 VW Passat, 47k Miles both are costing around $15000 with 2 year warrenty. TC: 120K
Volvo is a ownership nightmare? Wasnât aware of that. They were rated pretty high in safety though. Hence I was considering them.
Yes, very very safe! Itâs high on the safety list but so-so on the reliability list. Also, ownership-nightmare in terms of cost of parts. Very expensive repairs. Also, Hondaâs and Toyotaâs are pretty safe! Very safe actually.
Please avoid both ! 7 year old Volvo and a 5 year VW ( VW is slightly better ) are going to be expensive to maintain. If used car @ 15k is a price point for you Japanese / Korean is a best option.
Aboslute money pits both of them. Walk away from both.
What's wrong with those idiots. Nothing wrong owning a CPO car. Sell when the warranty expires. I'd rather recommend a CPO BMW though.
Itâs not about CPO or not. Itâs about whether the manufacturer makes reliable cars or not. Fun to drive != reliable I come a family of âBenzâ people. I owned one myself and now Iâm driving an Accord and itâs way, way more reliable than any Mercedes Iâve (or any one I know) owned. A 100k miles is nothing for a Honda or Toyota. For a Mercedes, BMW, Volvo and other cars youâll have poured a brand new Toyotaâs price by the time you get to 100k, even if youâre a careful driver. Itâs good for OP to know this and decide. If a fun drive is more important for him then sure, if he cares about a car thatâs dependent as a daily driver nothing beats Honda or Toyota.
Neither.
I ended up purchasing a 2017 Passat SE My reasons: Got a CPO including 2 year Warranty. Included the maintenance package. All in all it costed me leas than a 2016 Honda or Camry. It also as only 25000 miles on it. Clean record as well.
If you're considering a lower lifetime ownership cost of a car, and are okay with a higher initial investment, go for the Model 3.
How come? Theyâve only been out for few years. Would they still be cheap to own in their 3rd/4th/5th year etc ?
Both are unreliable ownership-nightmare cars. The Passat is slightly better. Add 6k more and get a 2018 Camry/Accord or a 2020 Corolla/Civic 2020 Corolla has a 2.0L engine which is legit
đ Agreed. Look at consumer reports reliability ratings by model and year. Generally Toyotas are the most reliable. I believe of late Hyundai/Kia have improved their game. Honda doing so so, some engines (1.5l) and some 9 speed transmissions have issues
+1 for Corolla for reliability. The new ones are not that boring to drive. I didn't know volvos are high on maintenance. I thought they were super reliable? CAn you elaborate?
