Tesla and Xiaomi SU7

Is announcement of Xiaomi SU7 responsible for Tesla layoffs? The car is sick and is even cheaper then Tesla. That’s why Elon is trying to go all in on FSD because he knows he can’t compete with Chinese subsidized products, and they can’t really steal FSD like they did for manufacturing. Also wonder if Chinese companies are responsible for Fisker and Rivian stock prices collapse.

EVs are not very popular and practical in US beyond the early adopters. You see expensive EVs piled up in dealership lots. Many car companies are backing off from their EV plans.

This is exactly the reason. In the 80s and 90s Japanese cars like Honda and Toyota gained massive market share globally. The Chinese car companies are going to be like that but 10x. Even if the US bans Chinese cars, they are still going to flood into Europe, Latin America, and Asia. It’s not just Tesla that can’t compete, it’s all car brands. On the other hand. Tesla FSD is getting really really really good. Tesla has the billions of capital required to buy AI chips and the engineers to leverage them and data. I have the employee version of FSD on my car and it regularly drives me hundreds of miles without any interventions.

Why does everyone overlook the part where Elon spent the last few years mocking his target customer base. How many Teslas do you see driving around with Maga stickers? It was only a matter of time before people started factoring Elon‘s personality into the purchase decision. Yes I know that there are macro economic factors impacting the EV industry, but a few people I know recently who have purchased EV’s, and who were struggling to make a decision factored in not supporting Elon as a part of their ultimate decision.
