thought it was me posting a few years ago lol. It’s actually a difficult time to jump from Consulting to tech company, considering the consistent tech layoff. Plus you have nine years experience, are you senior manager or manager? Expect a downgrade when coming to tech.

Senior Manager at current company. Yeah definitely expecting a downgrade. I’ve recently started job apps via referrals only - because beginning of the year was a layoffs bloodbath. Even now, quick rejections for roles from Google / Meta. Tough but trying to keep my head up as I get deeper into apps. I’m fine downgrading role, TC will still be better (and WLB too probably). Can I ask what tips you might share when you jumped from consulting > Meta? Like everyone else, just wanna try get to interview: tailoring resume to JD, getting referrals, and trying to identify and message the recruiter

I was lucky as Tech was doing well and hiring when I left consulting. Also network and internal referral really helps. I’m also looking out. Based on the interview questions, I’m pretty sure those companies gave me interviews because of my Meta experience and didn’t care much about consulting. Sorry but it’s true. Just bad timing. You may need to recalibrate your expectation.
