Was interviewing for data scientist senior associate at KPMG, Seattle and the final offer they gave me was $115k + 10% bonus. Is this a joke? I straight out told recruiter even non FAANG TC is $160-180k for Senior position. Fresh greenhorn grad at FAANG is $150k. I then check management consulting salary for KPMG and its $145k base ($170k TC). Are they bullshiting me or do DS have different payscale? Cause this is a consultant travel is required position.
Normal for tier-3 consulting firm in a non-client facing role
What are the tier 2s in consulting?
It’s KPMG....what’d you think
Sorry I thought they were better. I have friends in MBB with $180k TC entry level, so I figured non MBB will be $160k. At this payscale how are they even filling open positions?
^ they're not. Hence the reason they aren't mbb.
Big 4 is known for not paying well. You need to go mbb if you want better pay. If you want serious pay, you need to go into pure tech. If you want celebrity and pro athlete pay, you need to go into Fintech. That's really all there is to it.
Thanks for the advice. KPMG was one of my backup companies ($150-160k TC), but realized I should have done better due diligence.
@Totalcomp for SWEs sure. Not for MLEs/quants etc. Not even close in my experience. Quants received bonuses alone as big as swe/quant salaries in pure tech. Wlb is inexistent but that's the price to pay I guess.
Lol
They are also going to work you to death
KPMG Keeps Paying Minuscule Greens
Leveling in big4 is very different. Senior is like L3 level. Manager is their L4. Senior manager is L5. I don’t think they have L6 equivalent. You go straight to L7 partner.
Go get a job in pure tech then. BigFour pay much differently - they do not yet understand comp of tech companies and BigFour recruiters will do their best to lie to you about conversations regarding compensation and other things. How many years of experience do you have?
Try moving up the ladders in FAANG and see how far you get vs big4
Yes, that's what they pay. You can negotiate upto $130 TC.
