Workato quietly laid off a couple hundred employees yesterday. Recruiting, sales and marketing hit very hard. Seems like they're trying to fly under the radar about it as all the layoff roundups yesterday didn't include Workato, even though it was a sizable restructuring. Lots of senior execs, middle management and ICs across the board. Colleagues saying many teams confused as to operating structure since many core members were lost and middle management lacking information. #workato #tech
I don’t think they need to fly under the radar since no one seems to have heard of workato before
Workato is a good app, blew up during the COVID year and comes up in all automation conversations now with Boomi and Mulesoft. Like every company, they overhired, got bloated, didn't have the desired results, and had layoffs. IMO, the company isn't well known because it's a remote workforce that has a huge international employee base.
To my knowledge, and this article confirms it, less than 10% were laid off which is less than 100 people - not a couple hundred, just FYI! https://www.businessinsider.com/tech-layoffs-workato-clari-unicorn-startups-headcount-reduction-job-cuts-2023-2
