Kaiser threatening to call cps

I am in a very difficult position right now. My medical provider is Kaiser and my kid was having some weight loss issues. She was hospitalized end of last month which I believe was result of inexperienced doctor mid diagnosing her situation, she was always been an underweight kid and recent travel and Covid and all affected her weight again. Anyways from first day of hospitalization her vitals were good and she was discharged in 3 days however it adversely affected her. I was requesting for continued therapy for her twice a week and if possible outside Kaiser, which Kaiser didn’t provide. Today we had a follow up appointment with Kaiser Eating disorder team ,who denied her any kind of therapy last year . They found her weight has decreased and asked to be hospitalized again. I requested for a full check up to see if there is any underlying issues as last time during hospital stay they ignored all those requests and instead monitored her food intake and vitals. I told them if there are any issues with her organs I am willing to get her hospitalized otherwise I can keep her home giving what food they recommend and take her to hospital for vital check ups every day morning. I was told they will call CPS if I don’t hospitalize her right away just because of the weight. Doctor herself confirmed all her organs are functioning normally and vitals are okay. What are my options here? We are not in favor of hospitalization because of them not doing anything there 3 weeks back and it took a toll on all of us. Should I be worried about cps taking her away? Please no judgement because I would go get my kid moon if that’s what mine wants there is nothing more important to us than her happiness and well being. Also if anyone has any high level contact in Kaiser where I can complain about negligence please share.I don’t want any parent or kid go through this ever again.

Hire a lawyer and let him discuss issues with kaiser

CPS is not going to take her away, they rarely do even in cases of extreme abuse and you have documented proof that you are taking your child to the hospital, getting her tested, etc. It was inappropriate of Kaiser to threaten you with this and I would recommend transferring to another hospital or healthcare plan ASAP. That being said, if your child is severely underweight, act immediately to get help - whether that's speaking to a mental health professional, getting her on an IV, or joining an independent eating disorder program. Anorexia and related disorders can be fatal and you don't want things to get worse. Organ failure is sudden and often unpredictable.

Thank you for the reply. She has a therapist for eating disorder and I have been asking kaiser to increase the frequency to twice a week which they denied. I asked them to refer to outside therapy that also they outright denied. She’s been improving and we are monitoring her meals. She was extremely picky from when she was 2 years. I have been trying to find a therapist outside out of pocket not able get one tbh.

LMAO. You are a negligent parent. Imagine talking about a 2 year old being picky. You nurtured this anorexia from when this kid was a baby and now it is exposed for the world to see and you are here talking nonsense. Imagine telling me a 2 year old is "picky".

LOL OP is a 🤡. If your kid gets admitted due to being underweight your kid is anorexic and you aren't doing anything about it. Imagine this abuser saying that an "inexperienced doctor" is to blame. CPS will investigate and will find that you have a case to answer for your child being so underweight and malnourished that they have to be admitted to the hospital on multiple occasions. Saying you'd get the kid the moon when the kid is starving. Why not get the kid some bread LMAO

.. not even the same context at all. it’s hard to make the kids eat in general. some dont have an appetite or picky healthcare is sometime incompetent and you have to review and go through multiple doctors to get the help.

To your point her primary care physician was against hospitalization…

Listen to them. Don’t get to a point where they call CPS.

I would have any hospital but Kaiser.

At this point any doctor or hospital needs to earn my trust after all the safe and effective crap they pulled over the last 3 years. The burden of proof is on them now to show me they’re not mouthpieces for Pfizer.

Follow what the doctors say. We are not more experts than them. If you have a problem with kaiser change your provider in the next cycle but till then follow what they say.

why are they experts?

I mean if not folks who have studied the subject, who else is?

Hire lawyer. Kaiser health policy is conflict of interest. Get paperwork and evidence ready . More importantly focus on why he is loosing weight. Because kids stay with you at home. You are responsible for his or her care. Hire professional service from government agency to help you with feeding kids for next 6 months. So he can gain some weight .

Go to a different hospital and pay out of pocket.
