What is Karat?
A worse version of hackerrank
Agree for Karat - stupid shit
Agree Donβt waste time on Karat
I'm a VC who was an EE/CS before MBA. In my engineering days, interview questions were such a joke compared to this intense level of interviews today. As people said, it seems so toxic. I really wonder if they are finding the best workers or just optimizing for people today practice the interview questions.
Howβd you make that switch?
It is the latter. Interview skills and engineering skills are two different things. They are hiring people that are the best at solving interview questions, they are not hiring the best engineers. Itβs disgusting
had similar experience with Karat, somewhat Robotic as if the interviewer is there not by choice but by force. He read the system design questions like auto reader , paste the problem and then stare. Finished one then pasted another problem and stare more. This third party interview seems like a bit disconnect , my job was to somehow solve the problem and interviewer job was to say hello in the beginning and bye in the end. Gives a very dumb feeling , but then it mite just be me.
I had a similar experience in the past. Interviewers are not engaged cos their incentive is not aligned with the companies. These 3rd party interviewers are paid based on the number of interviews they conduct and NOT on the quality of the engineer they helped hire. So, naturally, all they care is conducting the way with the least effort from their end. Similar case with 3rd party recruiters. They don't have any incentive to hire good/great candidates like the in-house recruiters. They stretch the truth and sometimes lie to get someone hired as soon as possible.
