Hey guys, I’m a developer, and my company is offering bonuses for recruiting people with top secret clearances for specific jobs. Probably a little wild lmao, but how would you handle a LinkedIn rando messaging you something like, “Hello, my company is looking to fill a (job title) position and offering bonuses to us for recruiting them. Would you be interested in this opening and do have or are you eligible for a top secret clearance? If you end up accepting the position, after I receive the bonus, and I’d personally give you $2000 through cashapp, zelle, wire transfer, or whatever your preferred payment method is.” Open to any suggestions on improving the offer if you have any.
There are so many things wrong with this. It would absolutely feel like I’m A: Being pursued by an adversary country B: Being pursued by some intel agency to see if I was on the take. There is absolutely no way I would do anything but report this contact, which would likely get you a visit at work from the Defense Security Service.
Thanks for the perspective. I’m pretty laid back, personality-wise, and removed from people and thinking involving serious security concerns. I’m seeing now how crazy a message like mine might seem if you’re cleared to see top secret stuff. I just read a book on sales and was thinking of ways to make win-win offers. “I want the hiring bonus” and “I’m willing to share it” seemed like a good approach initially. Do you have any knowledge on how these people are recruited or tips on how to approach professionally/without seeming like a security threat? Lol 😅
My spouse has a TS/SCI and there is no way he would accept a kickback, it could jeopardize his clearance.
Thanks for the response. I don’t have a clearance and wasn’t aware. Any ideas on how to even find people with clearances? It’s not exactly advertised on their LinkedIn
Companies like Booz Allen, KBR and Leidos hire oodles of cleared engineers as does the federal government. My spouse uses clearancejobs.com when he is looking for a change.
