It's time for a new phone and I finally think I had enough from Android. Been using it since version 4.0 and every single phone I had was turning into crap after a year of usage - battery issues, call issues, sluggishness and even complete wipes and reinstalls won't help. I went as far as downgrading android versions when my newly replaced Nexus 6 got slow but nothing helps. At the same time my wife changes her iPhones only when they die. Every single Android upgrade brings something new and exciting and fucks some excellent feature I use daily just for the sake of it. I always tried to get a vanilla Android (Nexus, Pixel, Nokia, BLU) because I hate customizations and would like to receive an update or two during the life of the phone but it doesn't make a difference. And being on T-Mobile with their "excellent" coverage my choice is extremely limited at the moment - Pixel 3 with a ton of problems or OnePlus 6T with call quality issues. On the other hand I really like Google maps and search and they are just not the same on iPhone. And I don't know if I can live without a finger print unlock. Anyone did a similar switch recently that want to share?
dude, switch. It's easier to use and less of a headache. I did the same.
I went the other way (iOS to Android) and wish I went sooner. I suppose the grass is always greener on the other side. iOS does texting better, hardware is high quality. Android has much better software, Google Assistant much better than Siri, Google ecosystem and native Android apps (eg maps) much better than Apple / iOS counter parts. Less censorship in Android apps. Just buy a high end Android phone, which are less costly than high end iPhone.
Every time you use an iPhone you lose 1% if your neurons in brain.
Nope, it will liberate you from the pos imitation platform.
I went from Android to iOS back to Android. Benefits of iOS: Smoother, more reliable Has some nice apps not on Android iMessage Benefits of Android: More flexibility Google Assistant App defaults that you want (eg open Google maps when you click on an address, chrome when you click on a URL) Those last two got me to switch. And I'm loving Night Sight on my pixel 3!
Google assistant is available in the App Store tho. It even works with Siri shortcuts so u could say “hey Siri.. ok google” and it would listen without u having to manually open the app.
"Hey Siri... Ok Google" isn't ideal for anyone. I doubt it's ever happen for several reasons, but it'd nice if Apple let you choose which was the default assistant
Try Samsung OP I switched from iOS to Samsung, used my first Samsung for 5 years now upgraded to a better Samsung Also I can be very clumsy and the phones hardware is actually pretty good at bearing with me
Samsung is garbage
Thank you so much all of you! I think I'll get an iPhone and if I still don't love it in the first 15 days I'll just return it. I have probably five 3rd party apps on my phone so the quality and quantity of the app ecosystem is not important to me. Android customization ability is overrated to me. It's better than iOS for sure but custom ROMs excluded it's nothing big. You can install custom launchers that will be buggy or missing something important and what? No more lock screen widgets, the notifications get worse every single version, etc. On the other hand if I cannot make Siri open Google Maps when I ask for directions that would be a deal breaker (the only voice activity I ever do) I like Samsung's hardware a lot but to me their approach of shoving their apps in your face without any improvements over the stock apps is super annoying. On the other hand probably 2/3 of the Android devices in US are Samsung, I am sure there is a reason for that.
When I used iOS a few years ago, Siri would only open driving directions in apple maps. Super annoying. Also that gmail is crippled in iOS (also all third party email clients can’t truly sync in the background in ios). The trade off is iOS does have better battery life.
yes, if you switch to iPhone it’s going to kill you within 6 to 8 weeks
My personal phone is an Android which I love and my company phone is a late model iPhone about which I have mixed feelings. I use them both daily and quite frankly I'd stick with Android going further. The price point for the iPhone doesn't make a lot of sense to me but the only thing really bugging me about the Android is the update velocity which is basically 0 for my hardware manufacturer. I despise the fact that basically there are currently only 2 options for smartphones from the OS perspective but from a usability perspective I will stick with Android for the near future. I only use the iPhone because the company pays for it. I wouldn't pay that much money for that piece of shit.
You’ll be happy with the switch and regret that you didn’t go to iPhone sooner Source: did the same
I tried it and went right back to Android. That was 2 years ago. Maybe better now.
