I did this. My engineering math courses covered a lot of the requirements for the math major. I just had to pick up a few of the upper division courses the last two semesters I was in school. In total the math major only required 13 classes.
13 credits?
IMHO only do one degree. It's bad enough you have to meet a set of requirements to get a degree. Don't lock yourself into two sets of requirements. Do one set of requirements and take the classes you enjoy on the side in a variety of disciplines.
