people complain about it being slow and huge, and it seems that people internally move around a lot. is it boring to work there? especially early in career?
Way less boring than the last place I worked, which admittedly has a reputation for being boring (microsoft) That said if you need your job to require 40+ hour weeks in order to not be boring it might not be the place for you
Google is incredibly boring. The projects that new engineers are hired to work on are some of the least interesting things on the planet.
Can you give an example?
Sure. Making software to help the supply chain folks figure out how many hard drives they'll need in their data centers in 2023. Making software to help hardware engineers work together 5% more efficiently in the development of TPUs.
Define not boring?
Come to Amazon or may be try fb.
Agree that for the most part Amazon is not boring (I worked many years at AWS and genuinely liked it) but this can be subjective. I was trying to get the sense what OP was actually looking for.
Hey I'm looking for the perfect combination: boring+high TC, if you get that will you stop complaining?
No, I will keep complaining while enjoying high Tc
Me too, high TC and boring. Life can be exciting in other ways. The problem with an exciting job (as I've recently learned) is that you can't choose to dial it back when you feel like. I have a recurring vision of myself, lying on a floor exhausted, and my boss is poking me with a stick to get moving again.
Any place can be boring when you have tunnel vision
Yeah, lots of coasters
Nice
I yearn for slow laid back 11-5 life.
