#layoff #severance @kraken #crypto #bitcoin Kraken’s going through a round of layoffs and people are being offered 4 months severance with stock options vesting for the next two months. It’s being called a “jet ski” internally (lol). someone I know there is estimating 5-10% will be laid off, so 150-300 people
free vacation, lucky I wish I would get laid off
🙏🙏🙏
I was laid off from Gemini and got 1 month not 4. Not much of a vacation, more like full time job search.
I think it is plain stupid. It’s sad that you market something like this.
Whats jet ski

Cointracker. When u gonna be laid off?
Is it only for specific departments? I’m in the final round of interview. This makes me very nervous
not sure but I think it may be org wide. prob more concentrated on areas that are traditionally considered cost centres tho
For what it's worth I just finished finalizing an offer with them earlier this week, though who knows, they might rescind that, but oh well if that happens.
Shit, I'm meant to be starting there in a month. Chances of them rescinding offers?
Can I ask what role?
(Pmed you ^ but for anyone else it's an eng role)
I'd take 4 months severance easy. I'd take a week or two off and then start hitting LC hard!
Fake news. It's not a layoff but an opt-in program for anyone not aligned with the culture, values, etc. or any other reason to leave (jet ski) to their next role with 4 months severance.
some people are being forced to take this package, even high performers. While it may seem voluntary and not like a layoff, it is being used that way
Source for anyone being “forced to take this package”? Have not heard that.
I don't believe this, a Kraken recruiter reached out to me today.
this sounds awesome
explain the analogy? i’ve never been on a jet ski. are water sports some kind of thing to do with “kraken”?
they just name all their things after sea/ocean-related things. I guess jet ski is a way to say you get away but you get something too (a jet ski)
