Amazon uVru15 Apr 9, 2018

Amazon/SDE 2/$171k ($131k base + $34k bonus + $6k RSU vesting)/Ottawa

Amazon flyingML Apr 9, 2018

Damn! Great base! First year? How does your vesting schedule look like?

Amazon uVru15 Apr 9, 2018

Yeah but it seems to be in line with other people on my team. That’s my first year at Amazon, yes. It’s not updated for 2018 because I haven’t had my comp review meeting yet. I’ve had the first RSU vest of 6 shares, which is the $6k there. The upcoming ones for the new hire grant is 19 shares in 2018, 50 in 2019, 50 in 2020.

I find it pretty sad that it's basically a new grad lvl 59 comp in redmond (converted to USD), before adding the canadian taxes. And you're probably worth a loooot more to the company than the typical new grad. I'd love to go back to Vancouver :(

Microsoft jzRH51 Apr 9, 2018

Yeah, but you need less money to live in Canada in the long term, so maybe it's not so bad. Don't have to consider health care costs when unemployed, no need to save for private schools, no need to save much for university education for children, safer neighbourhoods, better public transit, and overall more per dollar spent on taxes
