I don't understand why are people crying that their portfolio is down. We are still higher than pre-covid levels except some of the covid specific companies which were expected to go down and were due for correction. The SNP500 and indexes itself is ~30% higher pre-covid levels. So overall it should be still profit if one is in market for more than 2 yrs. What I'm missing Example VUG Etf is 28% 200(preCovid) -> 325 (peak) -> 253 (current) Blind Tax 260/7 yoe
because most dont invest in sandp500 and invest in individual stocks to make more money.. if you did in spy only. you did great.. but not all did.. and also ppl buy and sell.. you are talking about just long term hold..
You’re not missing anything. Volatility chasers and margin traders are gonna end up losing long-term anyway. It just happened sooner rather than later I suppose.
Bc unless you already had investments pre-2021, you’re not going to be doing very well. Also housing has become insane, you now need an income of 200k just to own a house somewhere half-decent
Housing have become insane because of hyper stock growth only(plus investment firms like BLK chasing SFH). And with current correction housing should also recover.
So in retrospect I think people who have yet to buy house should be happy with this correction.
People invest their money all the time. In 2 years, there are a lot of money that got invested into the market. 2 things 1. 100k in 2022 < 100k in 2020 bcoz of the inflation. 2. People worried that the market might not recover soon and can’t take the funds out in near term.
Why work if NW is getting lower than last year?

Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
Why cry if your portfolio goes down 75% since it’s still higher than pre-2008?
You understand that Fed Printer can go endless and govt can't keep pumping money right ? And yes one should not cry if 1-3 yrs avg return is good.
What about people who accepted an offer in the past year? What about people who were hoping to use the RSU portion of their comp to buy a house? What about people who dabble in individual stocks? It’s pretty rational to be unhappy about the dip.
