L1B -> EB3? -> GC Process?

Hey, I’m a European and will come to the US on a L1B blanket visa. I have an associate degree and I think with that i can‘t come in EB2 category. So I think i will be in the EB3 category. Can someone please help with the Greencard process length? How long does it take nowadays until receiving GC, considering the PERM process, scrutiny, etc.? Apart of that is MS doing PERM again? Read they stopped it or at least have just been focused on those who have reached maximum length of visa soon. I assume that would mean for that they will wait -let‘s say 3 years or so-until they start my GC process. Right or wrong? Thanks for sharing your experience

GC times keep increasing. I'm almost 2 years into the process and not even scheduled for interview. I'd say you should expect 3+ years. The times when you got it in less than a year are gone.

Where are u born?

In a country with no backlog so it doesn't make a difference. Your company can start the process even before you reach US soil to gain some time.

Lol, good for guys! By the time i get it, i’ll not be there to collect, prpbably my grand children will collect it on my behalf 😂

You can apply for GC after 3 months and as long as you were not born in India or China it’s gonna take 1 to 2 years to get it. Mine took 1.5 years

When did u start the process? 2017?

Yes post trump otherwise it would take less than a year

Visa or GC preference category don't matter if your country of birth has no backlog. Just going through the system takes a couple of years now so better start now.

As long as you weren't not born in India or China, your GC is secure and sound. When any your coworker says he is waiting for a GC 15+ years, take a deep breath and feel better!!

The components of the process are PERM + I-140 + i-485. PERM processing may take 8 months or longer - this includes prevailing wage determination, recruitment and then the actual PERM. I-140 may take 2 weeks with premium processing. .. this is the most predictable part of the process. Not coming from a backlogged country means you can apply for the actual green card (adjustment of status) right away but there's no knowing how long that will take. Best case is 6 to 8 months. Worst case is 20 months. Total time.. could 1.5 years to 4 years. Once you file i-485 you are well on your way and are at the final stage. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about your L1-B running out.
