Not bad offer for 1y of exp, but I'd keep looking unless you feel you'll learn a lot more at this place than IBM. Is this SF Bay area offer?

yeah! SF!

The new pay is more than your current pay and with only 1 year of experience this is great! You can take risk in the start of your career

great insight, my risk tolerance is a lot higher now, so something to think about

For startups it’s very important to know who are the investors backing it up and the leaderships past record. You’ll definitely learn more at a startup compared to ibm. It will also increase your net worth going forward as more companies prefer a startup experience.

Startup 100%

You have to figure the value at exit. So estimate why it would be at a 10b valuation or whatever you think and then take like 70% of that number due to dilution/etc. that would be the best case in 5-7 years so compare that to you current comp tragectory. I say go for it though.

great insight, honestly didn't even think of it this way. thanks for commenting!

Yeah it’s confusing and I am doing similar calculations now. You can’t compare startup to ibm for equity because the startup will in theory grow a lot faster. But that’s the risk you take obviously

Seriously, buddy?!! Startup, more tc , yoe 1 …… still thinking it’s risky? Ok, it’s risky - if not now then when?
