Just completed the loop for a L5 Supply Chain Manager position with the GSF team. Phone interview 2 weeks ago went really well and the hiring manager told me that he was no longer the hiring manager moving forward as he was moving into another GSF role with no direct reports, but that he felt I was a good fit for this position. Loop went as follows: 1. Senior BIE: LP plus 2 SQL questions. I got the first one wrong (I only have basic SQL experience) but got the second right, and he said that SQL wasn't required for this job. He didn't seem to believe one of the answers I gave to the LP questions. I didn't feel that great about that interview. 2. Senior Supply Chain Manager: LP plus open-ended questions about how comfortable I was with SQL and Excel. I think it went decently well. 3. Supply Chain Manager: All LP. I think it went pretty well. 4. Senior Supply Chain Manager (hiring manager): All LP. Pretty tough questions that I didn't have the best answers for. Also the interviewer ended the interview by saying "thank you for your interest" which sounds like a rejection. I don't think I did poorly, but I didn't have the best examples. 5. Bar Raiser: All LP. I think this was the best of all 5 rounds of the loop for sure. Overall, I'm not too optimistic. 2, 3, and 5 went well, but 1 and 4 not so much, plus 4 is the hiring manager. Now I have to wait until next Friday to hear back...
Update: "No longer under consideration" I can't say I'm surprised, but I am definitely really disappointed. Guess I'll get the official call/email by Friday but it doesn't matter anymore.
OP, planning to apply for Amzn soon for a non-tech role. How did you prepare for the LPs? I am trying to draft behavioral questions mapped against LPs for ease but couldn't find a good list online.
Take all LPs and dedicate good 3-4 days writing stories/scenarios relevant to that. You can get question phrasing from google and try to construct 2-5 min monologue for it. Sometimes your stories will overlap across LPs and that is okay. But have different stories for experiences. I would say have at least 2 per LP to give maximum width of your work.
Someone with whom I can practice LP questions (L5/6), DM me. I got a reject last week but still applying to a few roles.
Hey, I want to practice LPs as well
Me too!!! Are you all Supply Chain folks ?)
If it makes you feel better, that is my org. It’s terrible. Whether you know it or not, you probably dodged a bullet. I’m doing all I can to get out.
lmao why’s it terrible
Hi, why is terrible?
What is LP?
Leadership Principles
Ah yes. What were some of the questions asked?
I interviewed for the same role earlier in September and didn't get it. I had similar perceptions as you on how it went- three really well, one not too impressed and another one didn't give away much (bar raiser).
I have 10years Exp, 5 leading the team and projects with Masters degree. What level would I be eligible for SCM roles in Amazon ?
L6 is senior role
I'm surprised they are asking for an L5 for supply chain manager role
What is the expected TC for this role?
It's interesting that there were so many SQL questions. It's my experience working with multiple teams that few outside BIE/analysts have SQL skills. Knowing SQL, which is relatively easy to learn, would put you in a small group of L5s.
Typically if you don’t hear back from the recruiter within 2 days of the on-site at Amazon, it’s not a good sign. Try not to decipher too much into the interview and keep applying. It typically looks like bar raiser interviews go well because they are highly adept with interviewing process and can make interviewees feel comfortable and put a positive spin even if they aren’t going to recommend you. Just from my observation.
Ah, fair point. I thought I gave good answers and he seemed legitimately impressed with one of my answers (even saying so), but maybe that's just him being a bar raiser.
This is not true, when you hear back just depends on when they set the debrief
